Job summary

Ericsson is seeking a Technical Authority Expert to join the Network Operations Centre Back Office in Sydney. You will oversee core network changes, validate deployments, and work with customers to improve service performance.

In this role you will troubleshoot production issues, perform preventive maintenance, and provide technical guidance across Ericsson core networks. Strong analytical skills, team collaboration, and willingness to work after hours are essential.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent experience in telecommunications, information technology, computer engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in telecommunications, IT operations, or network engineering.
• Knowledge of LTE/5G Core network architecture and topology; EPC/5G core elements experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement, test, and validate backup and restore procedures for multiple Core Network Elements.
• Implement, test, and validate network changes to ensure successful deployment.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues in production environments.
• Perform preventive maintenance to maximize network availability and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, field operations, and project teams to support service delivery and incident resolution.
• Participate in customer meetings and provide technical support and recommendations as required.
• Perform security, audit, and operational reporting per Ericsson processes.
• Participate in after-hours support and on-call activities.

Join our Team

Join Ericsson’s Network Operations Centre (NOC) Back Office team and support reliable mobile core and IP network services. In this role, you will implement and validate network changes, maintain core network availability, resolve production issues, and work with customers and internal teams to continuously improve service performance.

You will

• Implement, test, and validate backup and restore procedures for multiple Core Network Elements.
• Implement, test, and validate network solutions and system changes to ensure successful deployment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in production environments.
• Perform preventive maintenance to maximize network availability and reliability.
• Investigate network performance issues and work with customers and internal teams to identify and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, field operations, and project teams to support service delivery and incident resolution.
• Participate in customer meetings and provide technical support and recommendations as required.
• Perform security, audit, and operational reporting in accordance with Ericsson managed-services processes.
• Prioritize assigned tasks and complete work within agreed timelines and service commitments.
• Participate in after-hours support and on-call activities as required.

To be successful in this role, you must have

Technical competencies

• A degree or equivalent experience in telecommunications, information technology, computer engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in telecommunications, IT operations, or network engineering.
• Understanding of LTE/5G Core network architecture and topology.
• Knowledge of EPC network elements, including MME, HSS, SGW, PGW, PCRF/SAPC, UDC/CUDB, and DNS/IPWorks; knowledge of 5G Core elements is an advantage.
• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, and telecommunications protocols including S1AP, SCTP, GTP, Diameter, and LDAP.
• Experience with Linux operating systems, common command-line tools, Kubernetes, and containerized applications.
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Ericsson, or similar networking equipment.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues in production environments.
• CCNA, CCNP, RHCSA, or similar certifications are valued.

Additional experience that would be an advantage

• Experience supporting Ericsson Core Network products.
• Basic scripting or automation skills using Shell, Python, or similar tools.
• Exposure to F5 load balancers, firewalls, and IP security.
• Understanding of Ericsson eNodeB/gNodeB or Mini-Link platforms.
