Job summary

St Ives Gold Mine seeks an experienced Coordinator: Mechanical to lead and coordinate the safe, effective fixed-plant mechanical maintenance across the processing plant.

You will oversee planned, corrective and shutdown maintenance, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently and to high technical standards, partnering with Operations, Planning and reliability teams to improve asset integrity and plant performance.

Qualifications

  • Mech trade qualification and 5+ years in a leadership/supervisory role in mining or mineral processing.
  • Current WHS Statutory Supervisors certificate (S26) required.
  • Experience with fixed-plant maintenance in mineral processing equipment.

  • Residential in Kalgoorlie or Kambalda or FIFO from Perth.
  • Significant mechanical maintenance experience in fixed-plant mineral processing operations.
  • Current WHS Statutory Supervisor certificate (S26) and a recognised trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Boilermaking or a related mechanical discipline.
The Opportunity

St Ives Gold Mine is seeking an experienced and proactive Coordinator: Mechanical to lead and coordinate the safe and effective execution of fixed-plant mechanical maintenance across the processing plant.

In this key frontline leadership role, you will coordinate planned, corrective and shutdown maintenance, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.

Working closely with Operations, Planning, Reliability, Electrical, contractors and project teams, you will play an integral role in improving plant reliability, maintenance performance and asset integrity while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and Gold Fields standards. What You’ll Do
  • Lead, coach and motivate a team of maintenance personnel and contractors across daily, short-term and forward-looking fixed-plant maintenance activities.
  • Drive disciplined work management and execution quality while monitoring plant reliability, availability, maintenance performance and cost.
  • Ensure maintenance priorities and team activities are aligned with operational requirements, risk and the maintenance plan.
  • Complete and oversee maintenance administration requirements, including parts and materials requisitioning, maintenance order processing and work completion quality.
  • Identify emerging plant defects and failure risks, prioritise corrective actions and coordinate planned work to minimise disruption to operations.
  • Monitor maintenance performance, review equipment history and analyse relevant data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and participate in root cause analyses, equipment failure investigations and safety incident investigations.
  • Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of maintenance procedures, processes and technology.
  • Conduct regular field inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety, maintenance and production standards and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, coaching and performance development for direct reports through the Performance Management System.
  • Coordinate effectively across Operations, Planning, Reliability, Supply, contractors and other site stakeholders to enable safe and efficient maintenance execution.
What You’ll Bring
  • Recognised mechanical trade qualification with at least 5 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role within mining or mineral processing, including contractor and vendor management and people development.
  • Strong fixed-plant maintenance experience within mineral processing operations, with practical knowledge of equipment such as crushers, SAG mills, screens, conveyors, pumps, tanks, piping systems and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating planned, corrective and shutdown maintenance, including the safe execution of high-risk mechanical work.
  • Hold a current WHS Statutory Supervisors certificate (S26)
  • Sound understanding of maintenance planning, work management and asset management fundamentals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead within a team environment and build a proactive, planned maintenance culture.
  • Experience with maintenance and business systems such as SAP, AMT, INX and Excel; exposure to investigation methodologies is desirable – not essential (eg ICAM, RCA tools).
  • Valid Manual driver’s licence
  • Demonstrated experience in a proactive planned-maintenance environment, with a strong focus on equipment reliability and continuous improvement.
