Job summary

The HSE Investigations Coordinator role supports the Future Generation Joint Venture on the Snowy 2.0 project in NSW, leading high-level investigations into safety risks and ensuring rigorous documentation and recommendations for improvement.

You will collect evidence, interview stakeholders, analyse data from plans and permits, prepare comprehensive reports for senior management, and collaborate with legal, risk, and site teams to strengthen investigation capability across all project

Qualifications

  • White Card and safety certifications are required.
  • Experience as HSE investigations coordinator or similar.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
  • Proficient with investigation tools and software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct complex investigations across Project locations.
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Collect and analyse data from plans, permits and inspection reports.
  • Interview contractors, engineers and site managers for evidence.
  • Collaborate with legal and risk teams on findings.
  • Coach site HSE teams on investigation processes.

Job description

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

The HSE Investigations Coordinator is responsible for conducting and leading high-level investigations based on actual or potential risk, collecting evidence, and providing recommendations related to continuous improvement. The role also guides and supports Project and site teams to strengthen investigation capability and ensure consistent application of processes.

Experience
  • Proven experience as a HSE Investigations Coordinator or similar role, preferably in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of construction regulations and standards
  • Sound negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Proficient in using investigation tools and software
  • Strong initiative and proactive nature
  • Well-developed time management skills
  • Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Support and conduct complex enquiries and investigations, including complaints, and/or support site to undertake these activities.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of investigation practices and procedures, including through quality assurance activities and procedural development.
  • Conduct thorough and objective investigations in line with Project Incident and Investigation processes across all Project locations as required.
  • Ensure that technical issues are identified, and appropriate specialist input is obtained for specific aspects of enquiries and investigations.
  • Prepare enquiry and comprehensive investigation reports including detailed findings and recommended regulatory responses.
  • Collect and analyse data, including plans, permits, and inspection reports, to identify potential areas of non-compliance or discrepancies.
  • Interview Project stakeholders, such as contractors, engineers, line managers, and involved persons, to gather information and additional evidence.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of investigations, including photographs, videos, and written reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as legal and risk management, to assess the impact and potential risks associated with the findings.
  • Make recommendations for corrective actions or improvements to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and present findings and reports with recommendations to senior management.
  • When investigations are not required, provide assistance to the wider HSE team on day-to-day safety-related activities.
  • Assist in coaching site HSE Teams on basic aspects of FGJV’s investigation processes.
  • Where indicated, ensure requirements of Legal Professional Privilege are applied and maintained throughout the investigation and report preparation activities.
  • Prepare Incident Debrief and Findings Sessions as required for Senior Leadership.
