Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a capable kitchen assistant to support daily food preparation and meal assembly in a fast-paced kitchen environment. You will assist with meal prep, maintain cleanliness, and support the kitchen team during busy service periods.

The role requires basic cooking skills, knowledge of food hygiene, and reliability. Training and flexible shifts are offered to help develop kitchen skills within a professional team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in kitchen, cooking, hospitality, or food service is desirable.
  • Basic cooking and food preparation skills.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and safe handling.
  • Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods.
  • Reliable, punctual and well organized.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients and assist with daily food preparation.
  • Cook and assemble meals according to recipes and required standards.
  • Assist the chef/cook with meal preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Clean and sanitise benches, floors, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Store food correctly and monitor stock levels.
  • Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries.
  • Follow food safety, workplace health and safety, and hygiene procedures.
  • Minimise food waste and maintain good kitchen organisation.
  • Support other kitchen team members during busy service periods.
  • Perform other general kitchen duties as required.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and well organised.
  • Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods and performing general kitchen duties.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Qualifications
  • Food Safety Certificate or relevant food-handling training is desirable.
  • Relevant hospitality or commercial cookery qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
