Job summary

mecwacare Gregory Lodge in Flemington seeks an experienced Cook to deliver high-quality meals for residents in a 67-room aged care home. Casual shifts typically 9:00 am–5:00 pm, weekdays and weekends, with transport links nearby. Roles include menu support, cost-conscious portions, and teamwork across sites.

Requirements include Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery, HLTFSE001/5/7, and Food Safety Supervisor credentials, plus a commitment to great customer service and weekends availability.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join our dedicated team at mecwacare Gregory Lodge, our 67-room residential aged care home in Flemington. There may also be opportunities to support our teams at Rositano House in Richmond and Vincent House in Westmeadows.

About the role

• Casual position
• Rostered shifts may be scheduled between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, across weekdays and weekends.
• Each of our homes is well connected by public transport: Gregory Lodge, Flemington – a short walk from Newmarket Station (Craigieburn line) and the Route 57 tram on Racecourse Road. Rositano House, Richmond – tram stop right at the front door on Church Street (Route 78) and Vincent House, Westmeadows – serviced by local buses, including routes 477 and 902, with connections to Broadmeadows Station

What you bring

• Previous experience in aged Care.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in hospitality.
• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery.
• HLTFSE001 Follow basic food safety practices (Release 1).
• HLTFSE005 Apply and monitor food safety requirements (Release 1).
• HLTFSE007 Oversee the day-to-day implementation of food safety in the workplace (Release1).
• Food Safety Supervisor.
• Demonstrated knowledge of kitchen operations and management of kitchen staff.
• Experience in working to a set budget
• Ability to provide a high standard of customer service
• Availability to work weekends and weekdays.
• Experience in the preparation and presentation of food for large groups.
