Job summary

Peach Village Restaurant in Maryborough, VIC, is seeking an experienced Cook to join our team and help maintain the quality and consistency of our dishes. You will support efficient kitchen operations and work closely with the Chef.

The successful candidate will have a trade certificate in commercial cookery and at least 1 year of relevant experience, with a strong focus on food safety and customer satisfaction. This is a full-time role with salary aligned to market standards in Maryborough.

Responsibilities

• Select, inspect and prepare ingredients for dishes on the restaurant's menu, ensuring freshness, quality and suitability for cooking.
• Prepare, season and cook a variety of Chinese dishes using appropriate methods and techniques.
• Monitor cooking processes, including oven/grill temperatures, to ensure correct and consistent cooking.
• Portion, plate and garnish dishes, ensuring presentation and serving sizes meet standards.
• Prepare and accommodate dishes according to customers' dietary requirements.
• Collaborate with the Chef and kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and schedules.
• Maintain proper food storage and temperature control, and comply with food safety requirements.
• Monitor stock and inform the Chef of ingredients and supplies needing replenishment.
• Assist with menu planning and development of new recipes.

As our restaurant continues to grow and serve a strong customer base, we are seeking an experienced Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining the quality and consistency of our dishes and supporting the efficient operation of our kitchen.

Key Responsibilities include:

Select, inspect and prepare ingredients for dishes on the restaurant's menu, ensuring freshness, quality and suitability for cooking.

Prepare, season and cook a variety of Chinese dishes using appropriate cooking methods and techniques, including cutting, measuring, marinating, heating and cooling ingredients.

Monitor cooking processes, including the temperatures of ovens, grills and other kitchen equipment, to ensure food is cooked correctly and consistently.

Portion, plate and garnish dishes, ensuring appropriate presentation, serving sizes and food quality standards.

Prepare and accommodate dishes according to customers' special dietary requirements and preferences.

Work closely with the Chef and other kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation, manage cooking schedules and ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Maintain proper food storage and temperature control procedures to preserve food quality and comply with food safety requirements.

Implement and maintain kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and workplace health and safety standards, including the safe operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment.

Monitor food supplies, conduct stock checks, inspect incoming deliveries and inform the Chef of ingredients and kitchen supplies requiring replenishment.

Assist the Chef with menu planning, developing new recipes and improving existing dishes to maintain quality and meet customer preferences.
