Job summary

Glenview Community Services in Hobart's northern suburbs is seeking a part-time Cook Assistant to join our kitchen team. This role supports the Head Cook in preparing meals for residents across Windsor Street and Korongee Dementia Village, with a focus on nutritious menu items and safe kitchen practices.

The role requires a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and at least 1 year of experience, including knowledge of IDDSI textures and food safety in aged care.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in cooking.
• Experience in a residential aged-care setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of IDDSI framework for textures and thickness.
• Demonstrated understanding of food safety in aged care.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Cook to prepare meals for residents at Windsor Street and Korongee Dementia Village.
• Prepare tasty and nutritious meals under supervision.
• Maintain food safety and kitchen hygiene.
• Assist with menu planning and daily kitchen duties.

Glenview Community Services - Glenorchy TAS

Glenview Community Services are a leading Tasmanian aged care provider based in Hobart's northern suburbs. We are part of our community and provide a diverse suite of services, from tailored home care to our state-of-the-art purpose-built dementia care village.

The Cook/Cook Assistant works alongside our Head Cook to prepare tasty and nutritious meals for our resident across both our sites at Windsor Street and Korongee Dementia Village. You will be given the opportunity to develop your cooking skills under the supervision of our Chef Manager who is passionate about developing the skills of his team.

This is a permanent part-time role, working 60.5 hours per fortnight.

Shift schedule

• 6 Cook Assistant shifts 6:30am- 2:30pm per fortnight
• 2 Cook shifts 9am-5:15pm per fortnight

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Minimum 1 year experience
• A genuine passion for cooking and a desire to make difference in the lives of older Australians.
• Experience working in a commercial kitchen.
• Demonstrated understanding of food safety requirements in the aged care setting.
• Demonstrated understanding of IDDSI Framework for food and fluid textures and thickness.
• Experience in a residential aged-care setting

Essential criteria for this role include:

• Satisfactory National Police Check valid within 12 months
• Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (NDIS Endorsed)
• Eligibility to work in Australia
