Job summary

Anglicare Southern Queensland is seeking a motivated Cook on a casual basis for Symes Grove Residential Aged Care in Taigum. You will prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals, accommodating dietary requirements and ensuring high quality and presentation.

Responsibilities include maintaining hygiene, following menus, and supporting kitchen staff to deliver timely meals while managing stock within the budget. Prior experience with the elderly in a large kitchen and an NDIS clearance are preferred.

Qualifications

• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance is current.
• Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or equivalent experience.
• Recent experience cooking for the elderly in a large kitchen.
• Experience in a residential, not-for-profit service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals for residents.
• Prepare meals according to prescribed dietary requirements (regular, soft, fluid, therapeutic).
• Ensure meals meet residents’ nutritional needs and preferences.
• Follow menus, recipes and portion sizes while maintaining quality.
• Ensure kitchen hygiene and food safety standards are met.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment and sanitise equipment.
• Operate, maintain and store kitchen equipment per WHS requirements.
• Coordinate and support kitchen staff for efficient food prep and timely service.
• Monitor stock levels and minimise wastage within the budget.
• Collaborate with care staff to provide a positive dining experience.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Cook to join our residential aged care team for Casual basis. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving fresh, nutritious and appealing meals for residents, ensuring their individual dietary requirements and nutritional needs are met.

You will prepare a variety of meals, including regular, soft, texture-modified, fluid and therapeutic diets, while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency within the allocated food service budget.

You will also play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment, ensuring all kitchen equipment is properly maintained, and food safety procedures are followed in line with legislative and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.

Casual Pay rates range from $37.57-$38.99/hour, depending on the applicable classification and experience.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare, cook and serve nutritious, fresh and appealing meals for residents.

• Ensure meals meet residents' nutritional needs, preferences and individual care requirements.
• Follow approved menus, recipes and portion sizes while maintaining food quality and presentation.
• Ensure food preparation and service comply with food safety standards and hygiene requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment, including cleaning and sanitising equipment and work areas.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is safely operated, maintained and stored in accordance with WHS requirements.
• Coordinate and support kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and timely meal service.
• Monitor food supplies, manage stock levels and minimise food wastage while working within the allocated budget.
• Work collaboratively with care staff and other team members to support a positive dining experience for residents.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
• Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Previous
• Recent experience in cooking for the elderly and within a large commercial kitchen.
• Experience within a residential service, not for profit or similar organization
