Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated Cook to join the team at Bupa Aged Care Barrabool, Geelong region, providing well-presented, nutritious meals in a home-like setting.

You will work with residents, families and the care team to meet dietary, cultural and individual needs while upholding infection control and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing and delivering meals in a similar care setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to solve problems independently and work with a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare well-balanced, nutritious meals.
• Liaise with residents, families and the care team on dietary and cultural needs.
• Support efficient kitchen operations and inventory tasks.
• Uphold infection control and food safety procedures.
• Undertake administrative duties related to kitchen operations.

About the Home

Our Barrabool care home is a charming home set in a quiet location on the banks of the Barwon River in southern Victoria, 14kms from Geelong. It consists of 60 beds, with specialised dementia and respite care units. Our primary goal is placing our focus on the health, lifestyle and well-being of our residents.

About the Role

As a Cook at one of our care homes you will provide well-presented and nutritious meals in a home like environment. Your passion for food along with your person-first approach will make a real difference to the life of our residents.

Duties

• Plan and prepare well balanced and nutritious meals for our residents
• Liaise with residents, families, and the care team to ensure residents' dietary, individual and cultural needs are met
• Support the efficient functioning of kitchen and catering services
• Comply with all infection control and food safety procedures
• Perform administrative duties related to the kitchen operation such as stock taking, and food quality assessment

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in the preparation and delivery of meals within a similar environment
• Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is preferred but not essential
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to solve problems independently
