Job summary

Bupa Aged Care Barrabool is seeking a Cook to prepare well-presented, nutritious meals in a home-like environment for residents. Your passion for food and a person-first approach will make a real difference to residents’ daily living.

You will plan meals, liaise with residents and families, ensure dietary and cultural needs are met, and support kitchen operations while following infection control and food safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the preparation and delivery of meals within a similar environment.
• Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to solve problems independently.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare well balanced and nutritious meals for our residents.
• Liaise with residents, families, and the care team to meet dietary and cultural needs.
• Support the efficient functioning of kitchen and catering services.
• Comply with infection control and food safety procedures.
• Carry out stock taking and food quality assessment.

About the Role

As a Cook at one of our care homes you will provide well-presented and nutritious meals in a home like environment. Your passion for food along with your person-first approach will make a real difference to the life of our residents.

Duties

• Plan and prepare well balanced and nutritious meals for our residents
• Liaise with residents, families, and the care team to ensure residents’ dietary, individual and cultural needs are met
• Support the efficient functioning of kitchen and catering services
• Comply with all infection control and food safety procedures
• Perform administrative duties related to the kitchen operation such as stock taking, and food quality assessment

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in the preparation and delivery of meals within a similar environment
• Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is preferred but not essential
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to solve problems independently
