Responsibilities

• Follow established recipes and menu standards to ensure quality and presentation.
• Prepare sandwiches, focaccias, wraps, salads, pastries, hot foods and other cafe products for dine-in, takeaway and catering orders.
• Modify meals to accommodate dietary requirements (gluten-free, vegan, halal, dairy-free).
• Maintain food safety and hygiene; keep prep and cooking areas clean and organized.

Description Our Client The Trustee for LOVE ALTONA UNIT TRUST T/A Salt n Pepa Cafe is seeking two experienced Cooks to join their team located in Altona, VIC 3018.

This role involves preparing and cooking a variety of cafe meals, breakfast items, sandwiches, salads and catering food while maintaining food quality, hygiene and presentation standards. Tasks required include: Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, lunch and cafe-style meals in accordance with established recipes and menu standards.

Prepare sandwiches, focaccias, wraps, salads, pastries, hot food and other cafe products for dine-in, takeaway and catering orders. Prepare and cook meat, poultry, vegetables, pasta, rice and other ingredients using appropriate cooking methods and equipment. Assist in preparing catering orders, including platters, salads, hot food, sandwiches, sliders and breakfast items.

Modify and prepare meals to accommodate dietary requirements, including gluten-free, vegan, halal and dairy free options. Monitor food quality, portion sizes, presentation and freshness to maintain consistent standards. Maintain food preparation areas, cooking equipment and utensils in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.

Store, label and rotate food ingredients appropriately and assist with stock control and ordering of kitchen supplies.
