Job summary

Supported Care in Brisbane is seeking a dedicated Cook/Kitchenhand for Clayfield House. This permanent full-time position runs Monday to Friday, 10am–6pm, with no weekend or night shifts, located at Clayfield.

You will prepare meals, manage kitchen operations, and support residents with nutrition and dietary requirements to maintain quality of life. The role requires experience in a commercial kitchen, ability to manage budgets and stock, and compliance with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial kitchen or preparing bulk meals.
• Willingness to work within a team and cater to dietary requirements.
• NDIS Workers Screening Check / Yellow Card - current or ability to obtain.
• Organised and able to prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritionally balanced, enjoyable meals for residents within budget, including menu planning and purchasing solutions.
• Maintain kitchen, pantry and fridge/freezer areas to health and safety standards and accreditation requirements.
• Assist with medication for clients if trained, and liaise with clients to ensure care needs are met.

About the role:

As the Cook/ Kitchenhand at Clayfield House, you will be employed on a permanent full-time basis on a Monday to Friday schedule.

We are seeking a self-motivated, confident, and pro-active individual that possesses an understanding and ability to demonstrate respect, professionalism and compassion within a level III Supported Accommodation environment which provides assistance and support to residents.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Experience working in a commercial kitchen, or preparing bulk meals. E.g. meals on wheels
• Willingness to work within a team and cater to dietary requirements and requests from residents and management
• Organised and able to prioritise tasks
• Ability to manage food budgets, stock levels and ordering of food
• NDIS Workers Screening Check / Yellow Card - current or ability to obtain.

You will prepare nutritionally balanced, enjoyable, quality meals for facility residents within budget by being responsible for creative menu planning and purchasing solutions for the facility, stock control and taking responsibility for efficiencies in the kitchen and associated areas.

This position is also responsible for maintaining all areas of the kitchen, pantry and fridges/freezer areas to required health & safety standards and accreditation standards as well as reporting, following up on and resolving any related maintenance issues.

This role directly liaises with the facility’s clientele and as such may also need to assist with medication for clients and if so, will be provided with appropriate training.
