Job summary

Clayfield House is seeking a dedicated Cook/Kitchenhand to prepare hearty, home-style meals for residents in its Brisbane-based supported accommodation setting. You will plan menus, handle food ordering, stock control, and keep the kitchen clean and well organised.

You will build positive relationships with residents, support healthy eating, and work closely with management to meet residents' needs. Experience in commercial or community kitchens and holding an NDIS Worker Screening Check are

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial or community kitchen environments.
• Ability to manage food budgets, stock levels and ordering.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one.
• Organised, self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Ability to communicate respectfully with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious breakfasts, lunches and dinners for residents.
• Create varied menus within budget.
• Manage food purchasing and stock control.
• Maintain kitchen, pantry, fridge and freezer areas to health and safety standards.
• Build positive relationships with residents and encourage healthy eating habits.
• Work closely with management and support staff to meet residents' needs.
• Assist with medication administration if required (training provided).

Job description

As our Cook/Kitchenhand, you will prepare hearty, nutritious meals that residents look forward to each day. You'll be responsible for menu planning, food ordering, stock control, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.

You'll become a familiar and valued presence in the house, building positive relationships with residents while encouraging responsibility, respect, and participation around meal times

We're Looking For Someone Who

• Enjoys cooking traditional, home-style meals in larger quantities.
• Takes pride in making people feel cared for through good food.
• Has experience in a commercial kitchen, community kitchen, Meals on Wheels, aged care, hospitality, or similar environment.
• Can confidently manage food budgets, stock levels, and ordering.
• Is organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
• Has a naturally nurturing personality but is comfortable setting boundaries and maintaining standards.
• Can communicate respectfully with a diverse range of people and de-escalate issues when required.
• Works well as part of a team and can cater to dietary requirements and resident preferences.
• Holds a current NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card) or is willing to obtain one.
