Job summary

BlueCare is seeking a Cook for Rothwell Aged Care Facility to prepare and serve meals aligned with dietary and nutritional guidelines. You will ensure safety, presentation and temperature, while supporting kitchen operations and documentation.

The role requires Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent, knowledge of food safety and IDDSI, plus teamwork and strong communication to deliver resident-centred dining experiences. Prior aged care experience is highly regarded.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience)
  • Food safety knowledge and safe food handling practices
  • Understanding of IDDSI, allergens and cultural dietary needs
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and follow direction
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to resident-centred care and positive dining experiences
  • Basic computer and documentation skills
  • Experience in aged care or healthcare food service (highly regarded)
  • Satisfy probity checks required by legislation or policy

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and serve meals in line with menus, recipes and dietary requirements
  • Ensure meals meet IDDSI, allergen and texture-modified needs
  • Deliver meals that are well-presented and served at the correct temperature
  • Support food preparation, portioning, plating and kitchen operations
  • Follow safe food handling, hygiene and infection control standards
  • Complete documentation including temperature checks and production records
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents or equipment faults

Roster: Please clearly state your availability for shifts on your application questionnaire. Shifts can start as early as 6am and may include weekend work

Remuneration: $30.40 per hour + Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging + Penalties & Allowances

About the role:
