Anglo American Australia Grosvenor Mine in Moranbah seeks a Conveyor Installs Specialist to coordinate belt installation and end‑to‑end project delivery at our underground coal mine. Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will lead the installation team, ensure compliance, and align with maintenance plans to meet the mine schedule.

The role requires a Mechanical Trade qualification or higher, experience with conveyors, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade qualification or higher education is preferred.
• Experience with conveyor system design and mining maintenance.
• Proven ability to lead a team to achieve targets.
• Ability to interpret relevant legislation and apply it to compliance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate conveyor belt installation and end-to-end project delivery.
• Provide safe, reliable mechanical services to the Maintenance & Engineering team.
• Develop specifications, procedures and material/ labour requirements for conveyor installs.
• Support mine planning to mitigate production delays from installations.
• Identify root causes of downtime and drive remedial actions with internal/external resources.

Coordinate the conveyor systems with your mechanical proficiency! Anglo American Australia Grosvenor Mine – an underground steelmaking coal mine produced its first longwall coal in May 2016 and is located in Moranbah, about 190 km south‑west of Mackay.

We are building the team to deliver the next chapter of Grosvenor Mine. With a planned return to longwall production by Q4 2027, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major mine restart and help shape the future of underground mining.

Working alongside experienced professionals, you will play a role in implementing leading‑edge technology, automation, monitoring systems and operational improvements that will define how the mine operates for years to come.

Job Description

We are seeking a Conveyor Installs Specialist to join the team at Grosvenor Mine on a full‑time, permanent basis with Anglo American. Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, the Conveyor Installs Specialist will be responsible for the coordination of the conveyor belt installation and end‑to‑end project delivery for the underground coal mine.

• Provide safe, efficient and reliable mechanical engineering services to the Maintenance & Engineering department.
• Provide technical support to the Engineering & Maintenance team by coordinating resources, utilising the work order system and organising the supply and availability of equipment.
• Manage conveyor install and design to ensure projects are adequately planned by developing technical specifications, procedures, material and services requirements, labour and skill requirements and all other mine compliance obligations.
• Assist in achieving agreed maintenance plans and targets for engineering projects, procurement and disposal of equipment.
• Coordinate the Conveyor overhaul and installations to meet the mine schedule.
• Develop the project schedule for all conveyor installs, and retrieval as well as any overhaul work required.
• Provide input to mine planning meetings to ensure plans are developed to mitigate production delays due to conveyor installation and salvage.
• Identify root causes of major down time, accidents, non‑compliances to schedules, statutory requirements and assists with the implementation of appropriate remedial actions in conjunction with internal and external resources.
• Ensure compliance with all people, safety, technical, operating and business systems, behaviours and culture in your area.
• Collaborate and build strong relationships across a range of both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Trade qualification essential or higher tertiary education desirable
• Previous experience with Conveyor system design.
• Previous experience in a mining maintenance role (preferably Coal) or heavy industry
• Demonstrated experience leading a team of professionals to deliver against set targets
• Experience in driving best practice through your department and into the business. This includes the development and implementation of strategy in line with business goals.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation and apply where relevant to ensure compliance
• Track record in driving continuous improvement
• Computer literacy in CAD manipulation essential
