Job summary

Synergie Australia is seeking an E&I / Controls Project Engineer for a trusted client in Wetherill Park, NSW. Lead critical brownfield upgrade projects, oversee consultants and contractors, and ensure safe, compliant delivery across refinery sites.

You will manage PLC/SCADA upgrades, develop scopes and control philosophies, review external designs, and coordinate cross-disciplinary engineering work for a full lifecycle delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation or Controls Engineering.
• 10+ years delivering brownfield refinery projects.
• Experience with PLC/SCADA upgrades.
• Knowledge of Australian hazardous area standards.
• Experience as client-side engineering rep / Owner's Engineer.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver brownfield upgrade projects across refinery sites.
• Act as the client's engineering representative overseeing consultants and contractors.
• Develop scopes of work, control philosophies and cause–effect diagrams.
• Review designs from external consultants and contractors.
• Coordinate inputs across electrical, instrumentation, controls and process disciplines.
• Oversee full lifecycle from concept to handover.
• Support hazardous area cabling and infrastructure upgrades.
• Lead HAZOPs, MOC activities and engineering risk assessments.
• Collaborate with operations to minimize disruption and ensure safety.
