Job summary

WSP invites engineers to join our Generation & New Energy Team in Brisbane or Melbourne, contributing to the design and delivery of industrial control and communication systems across energy projects. You will develop PLC, DCS and SCADA solutions, work with Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, OPC and IEC 61850, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
• 2-6 years' experience in control systems, automation, instrumentation, or power generation projects.
• Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, or industrial communications systems.
• Interest in renewable energy, battery storage, power generation, or industrial infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to continue developing technically.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
• Working towards Chartered status or interested in pursuing professional accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and delivery of control and instrumentation systems for renewable and conventional power generation projects.
• Develop PLC, DCS, and SCADA solutions for a range of industrial and energy applications.
• Work with communication systems and protocols including Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, OPC, and IEC 61850.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across electrical, power systems, and renewable energy projects.
• Assist with engineering studies, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
• Support testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Participate in site visits and work directly with clients to help deliver practical solutions.
• Learn from experienced engineers while progressively taking ownership of project deliverables.
