At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.

More Than a Job: A Mission

We are looking for a Control Centre Systems Engineer to lead the specification, design, integration and delivery of critical Control Centre environments that support safe and efficient rail operations. This role combines systems engineering expertise with ownership of Control Room infrastructure, operator workstations, Human Factors integration and operational technologies.

You will collaborate with dedicated teams across engineering, operations, and Alliance partners/customers to deliver reliable, user-centred control systems and facilities. This position demands technical depth, stakeholder management capability, and a passion for delivering solutions that enhance operational performance.

Your Role, Your Impact

  • Coordinate and deliver technical activities associated with the design, procurement, installation and acceptance of Control Centre layouts, operator workstations and associated equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement scalable operational control solutions.
  • Develop Control Centre layouts that optimise operational efficiency, safety, ergonomics and operator performance.
  • Coordinate Human Factors activities and ensure operator requirements are captured, reviewed and incorporated into design outcomes.
  • Manage interfaces between signalling, communications, SCADA, ATS and other operational technologies to achieve seamless system integration.
  • Coordinate internal teams, suppliers, contractors, Alliance partners, operators and customers throughout design and delivery phases.
  • Manage procurement activities for Control Room infrastructure, operator desks and associated equipment, ensuring quality, schedule and compliance requirements are achieved.
  • Produce and coordinate engineering artefacts including management plans, technical specifications, design packages, drawings, reports and Verification & Validation (V&V) evidence.
  • Ensure system reliability through rigorous testing, validation and acceptance processes.
  • Support delivery, installation, commissioning and operational acceptance of Control Centre systems and facilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement by applying systems engineering best practices, digital engineering methodologies and innovative operational solutions.

You'll work with sharp, committed teams solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility, ensuring seamless integration of technology, infrastructure and operations.

What You Bring

  • Experience delivering Control Room, Operations Control Centre (OCC) or Integrated Control Centre (ICC) solutions within rail, transport, infrastructure, utilities, defence or other mission-critical environments.
  • Proven experience with Control Room design, layouts, operator workstations, console delivery and operational equipment deployment.
  • Understanding of Human Factors, ergonomics and operator-centred design principles.
  • Knowledge of systems integration, requirements management, verification and validation activities.
  • Strong understanding of operational control environments, networked systems and interface management.
  • Ability to produce high-quality engineering documentation, including specifications, interface control documents, design reports and technical submissions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and capable of managing competing priorities in a complex project environment.
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, IT or a related discipline.

How Success Is Measured

  • On-time delivery of Control Centre design, integration and implementation milestones.
  • Successful coordination of stakeholders, suppliers, operators and customer representatives.
  • Delivery of compliant, high-quality engineering artefacts and system documentation.
  • Achievement of operator acceptance and Human Factors objectives.
  • Successful installation, commissioning and acceptance of Control Centre workstations and equipment.
  • Reduced system defects and improved operational performance through robust systems engineering practices.
  • Positive contribution to safety, reliability and operational readiness outcomes across the project.
