Job summary

The West Gippsland Healthcare Group in Warragul, Victoria, is seeking a Contracts Officer to join the Financial Services team. An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Contracts Officer to be part of the senior management team within Financial Services of the West Gippsland Healthcare Group. Reporting to the General Manager WLS & Procurement, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and support to operational areas in the management of major goods and services contracts end to end across the Group, ensuring compliance with Victorian purchasing policy requirements.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Business or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in contract administration
  • Sound project management skills
  • Excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills, particularly in the usage of Word and Excel

The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Procurement, Contract Law, or related fields. Postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications in procurement, contract management, or project management are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years of significant experience in government tender processes, contract management within the healthcare or public sector, including experience in managing complex contracts, procurement governance, risk management, and financial oversight.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team, with a strong focus on performance monitoring and team growth.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract fundamentals, procurement frameworks, government regulatory bodies to effectively work through contract negotiation and compliance.
  • Proficiency in contract management systems (CMS), Single Digital Presence (SDP) such as Jaggaer, Oracle/SAP, or similar and modern electronic technology to improve efficiency and automate contract workflows.
  • Excellent interpersonal, persuasive, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and external providers in confidential and complex matters.

IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

The West Gippsland Healthcare Group is a customer focused health organisation providing acute medical and surgical, obstetric, emergency, residential care and community health services to 45,000 people in the rural, urban residential, agricultural and industrial areas located within the Baw Baw Shire and beyond. The administrative headquarters are located at West Gippsland Hospital in Warragul, approximately 100kms east of Melbourne.
