Job summary

Delta is seeking a Contracts & Commercial Manager to lead a small team and provide strategic oversight of contracts across the full lifecycle, ensuring value delivery and risk management.

You will negotiate major agreements, build capability, advise on obligations and insurance, and support sourcing activities, while fostering strong supplier partnerships and driving compliance.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Law or related discipline.
• Significant senior experience in commercial contracting and contract management.
• Sound knowledge of Australian contract law and governance principles.
• Experience managing supplier/contractor relationships across full lifecycle.
• Understanding of insurance and risk transfer arrangements.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead review, negotiation, management and governance of major contracts across the full contract lifecycle.
• Build commercial capability, accountability and collaboration across the team and wider business through coaching guidance and improved processes.
• Provide practical advice on contractual obligations, insurance, risk and commercial exposure.
• Support major sourcing activities, tenders and business opportunities through contract review, commercial risk assessments and negotiations.
• Advise on contract variations, renewals, claims, performance issues, disputes and contractual remedies.
• Oversee supplier performance and foster strong commercial partnerships with major suppliers and contractors.
• Drive continuous improvement in contract management frameworks, systems and compliance.
• Empower team members to take ownership, make decisions and continuously improve the way we deliver.

About the Role
Leading a small team, you'll provide strategic oversight of Delta's contracts and commercial function, ensuring major contracts deliver value, manage commercial and contractual risk and support operational success.

You will:

About You
You are a commercially minded leader who is comfortable working through complex contract provisions and partnering with operational leaders to translate them into practical business outcomes.

You will bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Law (LLB, JD or equivalent) Business, Commerce, Management or a related discipline
• Significant senior experience in commercial contracting, negotiation and contract management.
• Strong experience reviewing, interpreting and negotiating complex commercial agreements supported by sound knowledge of Australian contract law, commercial governance, SOCI & Third-Party risk management principles.
• Experience managing complex supplier and contractor relationships across the full contract lifecycle.
• A sound understanding of insurance and risk transfer arrangements.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to assess pricing, value, risk and broader business impacts when navigating complex contractual and operational challenges.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Experience developing or improving contract management frameworks, systems and governance processes.
• Sound commercial judgement and the ability to balance contractual protection, compliance and risk controls with practical business outcomes.
• Experience within utilities, power generation, engineering, maintenance, industrial services or other asset-intensive environments or admission as a lawyer in an Australian jurisdiction will be highly regarded.
