Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is seeking a commercially focused Contracts Administrator for a growing client in the Darwin region. The role covers end-to-end contract administration across complex projects, ensuring commercial outcomes are protected and delivered profitably.

You will work closely with Project Managers and the wider commercial team, handling variations, EOTs, progress claims and subcontractor negotiations to support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Contracts Administrator within construction, civil, infrastructure or related contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
  • Experience managing variations, claims, EOTs and progress claims.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administer construction contracts from award through to completion.
  • Review, interpret and manage contractual requirements, notices and obligations.
  • Prepare and manage variations, extensions of time and contractual claims.
  • Assist with subcontractor procurement, negotiation and contract administration.
  • Monitor project costs, commitments, progress claims and commercial performance.
  • Manage payment schedules, invoices and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate contract registers and project documentation.
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and escalates issues where required.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, site teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist with monthly reporting, forecasting and project commercial reviews.
  • Ensure contractual and commercial processes are followed across projects.

Job description

Our client is a well-established and growing specialist contractor delivering complex projects across the construction, infrastructure, government, utilities, transport, resources and commercial sectors.

Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are seeking an experienced Contracts Administrator to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Contracts Administrator to join a supportive team and take ownership of the commercial administration across a range of projects.

The Opportunity Working closely with Project Managers and the wider commercial team, you will be responsible for supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects from contract award through to completion.

You will play a key role in managing contractual obligations, protecting commercial outcomes and ensuring projects are delivered effectively and profitably.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer construction contracts from award through to completion.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded Contracts Administrator who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment and is looking to develop their career with an established contractor.

You will ideally have:
  • Previous experience as a Contracts Administrator within construction, civil, infrastructure or a related contracting environment.
  • A strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
  • Experience managing variations, claims, EOTs and progress claims.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Business, Law or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Experience working for a subcontractor or specialist contractor would be advantageous.
