Job summary

UNSW Canberra is seeking a Content & Collections Librarian to oversee the Academy Library's physical and digital collections and to enhance content services for learning, teaching and research. The role collaborates with UNSW Sydney library teams to support discovery and access.

The successful candidate will manage acquisitions, cataloguing and digital platforms, ensuring high-quality service and stewardship of resources.

Qualifications

• A degree in Library and Information Studies, Information Management or a related discipline, with eligibility for ALIA membership.
• Extensive contemporary collection management experience for physical and electronic collections.
• Experience with Ex Libris library management suite and Springshare software modules advantageous.
• Experience analysing collection and financial data and producing reports for decisions.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift/move items up to 10 kg per WHS practices.

The Content & Collections Librarian is responsible for the management and continuous improvement of the Academy Library's physical and digital collections as well as content services to support UNSW Canberra's learning, teaching and research needs. They handle everything from acquiring and cataloguing materials to maintaining collections and improving digital services like the Canberra library website. Responsibilities

Working closely with UNSW Sydney Library’s Scholarly Collections & Access and the Digital Initiatives teams, the Content & Collections Librarian applies specialist library expertise to support collection development, resource acquisition, collection sustainability, content management and online services delivery.

The position provides expert advice, analysis and reporting on collection performance, resource utilisation, materials budget expenditure and emerging collection needs to inform decision-making and ensure the effective stewardship of the Academy Library’s resources. The role is responsible for coordinating library content across the UNSW Library's shared digital platforms and systems to support discoverability, accessibility and a positive client experience for UNSW Canberra library clients.

Who You Are

• A degree in Library and Information Studies, Information Management or a related discipline, with eligibility for ALIA membership, or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
• Extensive contemporary collection management experience in the successful provision and management of physical and electronic collection services including acquisitions, cataloguing using Library of Congress classification, collection development and maintenance.
• Experience managing library content across AEM websites, library management and discovery services, content management systems or related technologies. Experience with the Ex Libris library management suite and Springshare software modules would be highly advantageous.
• Experience analysing collection and financial data, preparing reports and making recommendations to support operational and management decision-making.
• Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver continuous service improvements.
• Capacity to safely perform the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, moving and carrying items of up to 10 kg in accordance with WHS manual handling practices.
