Job summary

The Top End Mental Health Service in Darwin is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide senior clinical services in Adult Psychiatry across inpatient and community settings. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, contribute to medical student education and RANZCP training, and support governance and service development.

Experience in education and supervision is valued, with opportunities to influence patient care and training programs within TEMHAODS.

Consultant-level Adult Psychiatry opportunity in Australia's tropical Top End.

Sante Recruitment is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Top End Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (TEMHAODS) in Darwin.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychiatrist seeking a senior clinical role within a comprehensive public mental health service, with the added opportunity to contribute to medical student education and RANZCP postgraduate psychiatry training.

The Opportunity

The successful applicant will provide Consultant-level clinical services in Adult Psychiatry across the Top End Mental Health Service as required.

The position provides the opportunity to work across inpatient and community-based mental health services while contributing to the ongoing development of a high-quality, recovery-focused mental health service.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Providing specialist Consultant Psychiatric assessment and management
• Admission, treatment and discharge planning for patients
• Providing clinical leadership and specialist advice to multidisciplinary teams
• Working in accordance with the Northern Territory Mental Health and Related Services Act
• Maintaining high-quality clinical records and documentation
• Participating in clinical governance and service improvement activities
• Participating in the after-hours psychiatric on-call roster
• Working collaboratively with inpatient and community mental health services

The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Director of Psychiatry and contribute to a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Teaching & Training

This position provides an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist with an interest in education and supervision.

The Successful Applicant Will Participate In

• Teaching Psychiatry to medical students through the Northern Territory Clinical School
• The RANZCP Postgraduate Psychiatry Training Program
• Supervision and education of junior medical staff and psychiatry trainees
• Multidisciplinary education and professional development

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

• Specialist qualifications in Psychiatry
• Current registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for registration
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or eligibility for Fellowship
• Appropriate experience in adult psychiatryA sound understanding of inpatient and community-based multidisciplinary mental health services
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to high-quality, recovery-focused patient care
