Job summary

Head Medical is seeking an experienced Consultant General Surgeon to join the Department of General Surgery at Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals in Queensland, Australia. The role involves delivering expert inpatient and outpatient general surgical services across both facilities and participating in after-hours and emergency on-call rosters.

You will supervise registrars and work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes while contributing to regional health

Qualifications

• Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or overseas equivalent must be completed.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties of Staff Specialist (Surgeon) in General Surgery at Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient general surgical services including assessments, operations, consultations, outpatient sessions and rounds.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call roster and supervise emergency surgery as required.
• Supervise registrars and junior medical staff overseeing day-to-day activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure positive patient outcomes.
