Job summary

Ecological Solutions, a boutique ecological consultancy on the NSW Central Coast, seeks a Consultant Ecologist to join and shape the business as it grows. You will deliver field surveys, write technical reports, and collaborate with planners, engineers, and other consultants across NSW.

Expect progression toward project leadership and mentoring as the team expands. Requirements include 3–5 years in ecological consulting, a relevant degree, strong NSW flora/fauna ID, GIS mapping, and willingness

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in ecological consulting or a related field.
• Degree in ecology, environmental science, or similar.
• Strong NSW flora and fauna identification skills and hands-on survey experience.
• Knowledge of BC Act, EP&A Act, EPBC Act, and NSW BAM.
• Clear, concise report writing and meeting deadlines.
• GIS mapping experience.
• Class C licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
• Beneficial: BAM Accreditation, fauna handling, White Card, First Aid certificate.

Responsibilities

• Deliver field surveys and technical reporting for projects across NSW.

• Conduct flora and fauna surveys, targeted threatened species surveys, BAM plots, GIS mapping, and report writing.
• Contribute to BDARs, BSAs, Flora and Fauna Assessments, Reviews of Environmental Factors, Vegetation and Biodiversity Management Plans.
• Undertake pre-clearing surveys and fauna handling as required.
• Travel locally and regionally, including occasional night and early morning surveys.

Ecological Solutions is a boutique ecological consultancy based on the NSW Central Coast, working across NSW. We help public and private clients understand and navigate the biodiversity side of their projects, flagging the risks and opportunities early and guiding them as required.

Due to rapid growth, we're seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join our team. This is an opportunity to join early, help build a tight-knit team, and shape the direction of the business. As the business grows, so will your role, progressing into project leadership, client relationships, and mentoring.

The Role
