Responsibilities

• Assist tradespeople with repairs, maintenance and refurbishments.
• Re-sheet walls, repair door frames, and handle general building works.
• Operate hand and power tools.
• Clean, pressure wash and prepare buildings for delivery.
• Perform general workshop and yard duties.
• Forklift operation (if licensed).
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Your new role

We're seeking a reliable and hardworking Construction Trades Assistant to join a busy Mackay workshop. Working in a sheltered environment, you'll play a key role in the refurbishment, maintenance and preparation of transportable buildings. This position is ideal for someone with a construction, carpentry, trade assistant or building maintenance background who enjoys hands‑on work and takes pride in delivering quality results.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting tradespeople with repairs, maintenance and refurbishments


• Re-sheeting walls, repairing door frames and completing general building works


• Operating hand and power tools


• Cleaning, pressure washing and preparing buildings for delivery


• General workshop and yard duties


• Forklift operation (if licensed)


• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised work environment

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience in construction, trades assisting, carpentry or building maintenance


• Strong experience using hand and power tools


• Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport


• Positive attitude and willingness to learn


• Strong work ethic and reliability


• Ability to work effectively within a team environment

• Must be living locally in Mackay
