Job summary

Coffey Testing is expanding its laboratory and field testing team in Pakenham, VIC. The position involves testing soils, concrete and aggregates across lab and site environments, with travel as needed to projects in rail, mining and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction materials testing is preferred.
• Ability to travel to project sites for field testing.
• Physically fit to lift loads and work on site.
• Current manual driver's licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities

The positions we have available are for Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians to join us in our new location based at Pakenham.

We provide independent NATA accredited testing services.

What a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician does

As a new starter, you'll work alongside experienced technicians learning how to test construction materials such as soil, concrete and aggregates. You'll spend time both in the laboratory and on construction sites, collecting samples, performing tests, recording results, and helping ensure projects are built to specification.

A typical day might involve:

• Travelling to project sites to carry out field testing.
• Sampling soils, aggregates, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Performing tests in line with relevant test methods, to a high level of quality and ensuring integrity of results
• Recording and reporting test results into Geotester.
• Working closely with site supervisors, engineers, and project teams.
• Learning industry standards and quality requirements.

As your experience grows, so do the opportunities. Experienced technicians take on more responsibility including:

• Managing testing programs on major infrastructure projects.
• Operating independently across multiple sites.
• Leading site laboratories on large projects.
• Progressing into senior technical, laboratory management, project management, or leadership roles.
