Job summary

Conquest is offering a Construction/International Procurement Cadet role to support its procurement function in sourcing, evaluating and purchasing construction materials from overseas suppliers. The cadetship blends hands-on work with formal study to build capabilities for a career in construction procurement.

The role covers end-to-end procurement, from supplier research to logistics coordination and compliance verification, under supervision of the Procurement Manager.

Qualifications

• Trade background and working towards a tertiary qualification in Construction Management or related field.
• Previous site-based construction experience, preferably in high-rise mixed-use residential projects.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify international suppliers of construction materials, formwork systems, plant and equipment; prepare RFQs and collate responses.
• Raise purchase orders in line with approved requisitions and delegation authorities; track orders and flag delays or risks.
• Review shipping and import documentation such as invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and bills of lading; reconcile supplier invoices.

Construction/International Procurement Cadet

The Cadet – International Procurement is an entry-level development role supporting Builtcom's procurement function in the sourcing, evaluation and purchase of construction materials, systems and equipment from overseas suppliers. Working under the direction of the Procurement Manager, the Cadet provides hands‑on support across the end‑to‑end procurement cycle — from supplier research and quotation through to order placement, logistics coordination and compliance verification.

The role is structured as a supported cadetship, combining practical on‑the‑job experience with formal study, and is designed to build the Cadet's capability toward a longer‑term career in construction procurement and supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in researching and identifying international suppliers of construction materials, formwork systems, plant and equipment.

Prepare and issue requests for quotation (RFQs) and collate supplier responses for review.

Build cost comparison and landed‑cost analyses, factoring in freight, duties, taxes, currency and lead times.

Maintain an up‑to‑date supplier database, including contacts, capabilities, pricing and performance notes.

Purchasing & order administration

Raise purchase orders accurately and in line with approved requisitions and delegation authorities.

Track orders through production, dispatch and delivery, proactively flagging delays or risks to the Procurement Manager.

Assist in reviewing shipping and import documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and bills of lading.

Support reconciliation of supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery records.

Logistics & lead‑time coordination

Liaise with freight forwarders and logistics providers to monitor shipments and confirm delivery schedules.

Maintain procurement trackers and reporting so that material availability aligns with site and project programme requirements.

Develop a working understanding of Incoterms, shipping methods and international lead‑time drivers.

Check that products and materials meet project specifications and relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS), including conformance and certification requirements.

Support the collection and filing of product conformance, warranty and compliance documentation.

Help identify and elevate non‑conforming products and potential supply risks.

Key Relationships

Internal: Procurement Manager, Commercial team, Project Managers and site delivery teams, Finance / Accounts Payable, and the broader Builtcom and Conquest Group functions.

External: International and domestic suppliers, freight forwarders and logistics providers, customs and compliance agents, and manufacturer representatives.

What We're Looking For:

Trade background and working towards a tertiary qualification in Construction Management, or a related field.

Previous site‑based construction experience, preferably in high‑rise mixed‑use residential projects

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders
