Job summary

The Lorian Group in Brisbane is seeking a construction cadet / project coordinator to assist in planning, coordination and delivery of diverse projects from early planning through to completion. You will work alongside experienced project professionals, gain exposure to a broad range of stakeholders, and contribute to reporting, procurement and contract administration.

Qualifications

• Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related built environment discipline.
• Previous experience with a builder in Contract Administrator, Cadet, Project Coordinator or similar role preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, plus excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's licence required.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning, coordination and delivery of projects from early planning through to completion.
• Support project reporting, coordinate consultants and subcontractors, attend meetings.
• Help monitor progress, procurement and contract administration activities.
• Support senior team with project administration and stakeholder coordination.

About the Company

Our client is a growing construction business delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across the retail, education, commercial and industrial sectors. They have a good reputation locally and are proud of the amount of repeat business they secure based on quality of their work and relationships they are able to develop. As their current cadet moves into more senior role, they are looking to backfill the role with a construction cadet / project coordinator.

Role Overview

Working alongside experienced project professionals, you will assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of projects from early planning stages through to completion. You will gain exposure to a broad range of stakeholders, project types and responsibilities. Responsibilities will include supporting project reporting, coordinating consultants and subcontractors, attending project meetings, monitoring project progress, assisting with procurement and contract administration activities, and helping ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, budget and quality objectives. You will also assist senior team members with project administration, stakeholder coordination and general project delivery activities.

Desired Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will be currently studying or have recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related built environment discipline. Previous experience working for a builder in a Contract Administrator, Cadet, Project Coordinator or similar role is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with excellent organisation, attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving. Candidates should be motivated to develop their technical knowledge and capable of building effective working relationships with consultants, contractors and clients. A current driver's licence is required.
