Job summary

Sydney Civil is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our Turrella, Sydney team. You will prepare accurate estimates and tender submissions for civil, government and infrastructure projects from drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months’ experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar estimating role.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and use estimating software.
• A Diploma or Certificate IV in construction, building, civil engineering, or quantity surveying.

• Measure quantities of materials, labour, and plant required for projects.
• Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

Sydney Civil Pty Ltd We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in Turrella, Sydney. In this role, you will prepare accurate and competitive estimates and tender submissions for civil, government, and infrastructure projects, working from drawings, specifications, and site information.

You will liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing, assess project risks and requirements, and work closely with project and management teams to help the business win and deliver quality work. Task & responsibilities Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine the scope of work Measuring and calculating quantities of materials, labour, and plant required for projects Obtaining and comparing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors Preparing detailed cost estimates, tender submissions, and pricing schedules Assessing project risks, site conditions, and programme requirements that may affect costs Attending site visits, tender briefings, and pre-tender meetings as needed Maintaining a database of current rates, costs, and supplier pricing Assisting project teams with budgets, variations, and cost reviews once projects are awarded Following up on tender outcomes and contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes

Qualification & experience Minimum of 12 months’ relevant experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar estimating or quantity surveying role within the construction or civil industry is required.

Proficiency in estimating software and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings are essential. A relevant qualification in construction, building, civil engineering, or quantity surveying (e.g. Diploma or Certificate IV) is generally expected for this role.
