Job summary

Downer Energy & Utilities is seeking a Construction Environmental Manager to lead environmental planning, monitoring and compliance across major transmission projects. This site-based role reports to the Environmental, Planning and Sustainability Director and combines technical expertise with people leadership to deliver sustainable outcomes.

You will build a high-performing team, manage EMPs, liaise with regulators and clients, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance on

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related field.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing environmental outcomes on large-scale construction projects.
• Experience leading audits, investigations and risk assessments.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental leadership across major transmission projects.
• Develop and lead a team of professionals.
• Deliver proactive environmental advice to project teams.
• Maintain Environmental Management Plans and permits.
• Coordinate environmental approvals, licences and CEMP.
• Lead audits, inspections and compliance activities.
• Engage with regulators and clients.
• Drive continuous environmental improvement.
