Job summary

SSE is offering the Consents & Environment Graduate Programme with base locations in Aberdeen, Inverness or Perth. The role provides hands-on experience across the transmission project lifecycle, supporting environmental assessments, site inspections and documentation review to minimise environmental impacts.

You will develop knowledge in environmental compliance, consenting and risk management while building relationships with colleagues, contractors, regulators and communities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:2 honours degree in Geography, Town Planning, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Biodiversity Net Gain, Environmental Restoration, Natural Sciences, Biology or PR and Communications.

Responsibilities

What is the Role?

As a Consents and Environment Graduate, you’ll gain hands‑on experience across different stages of the transmission project lifecycle. You’ll support environmental assessments and site inspections, review project documentation and work with engineering and construction teams to help avoid or minimise environmental impacts. You’ll build relationships with colleagues, contractors, regulators and local communities while developing your knowledge of environmental compliance, consenting and risk management. The programme will help prepare you for a future career as a Consents and Environment Manager within SSEN Transmission.

Our Consents & Environment teams help ensure projects are developed and delivered responsibly, balancing environmental, planning and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have, or be expected to achieve, a minimum 2:2 honours degree in Geography, Town Planning, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Biodiversity Net Gain, Environmental Restoration, Natural Sciences, Biology, Zoology, or PR and Communications.
