Job summary

Rockhampton Regional Council in Rockhampton is seeking a hands-on leader to head a crew delivering essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will coordinate construction and maintenance activities, drive high‑quality workmanship and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

This role requires a proven track record in concrete construction and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in structural concrete construction, including form setting and steel reinforcement placement.
• Concrete finishing experience with exposed aggregate essential.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Strong leadership with ability to motivate and coordinate a crew for safe, efficient outcomes.
• Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to prioritise workloads.

Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight

$85,343 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 6 + Site Allowance + Leading Hand Allowance 2) + Superannuation

Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

Step into a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead and inspire a crew delivering essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects that support the community every day.

You will coordinate construction and maintenance activities, drive high-quality workmanship and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. With a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail, you'll play a key role in delivering durable infrastructure and successful project outcomes. This is an opportunity to combine your technical expertise, leadership skills and commitment to excellence while making a tangible impact across the region.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

Extensive experience in structural concrete construction, including form setting and steel reinforcement placement.

Extensive experience in concrete finishing, with experience in exposed aggregate essential.

Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coordinate and support a crew to achieve safe and efficient project outcomes.

Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to prioritise workloads and adapt to changing operational needs.

A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring all work meets specifications, quality standards and compliance requirements.

A positive team-focused attitude with strong communication skills and a commitment to building productive relationships with colleagues, supervisors and the community.
