Job summary

Central Premix Concrete is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead the Gisborne concrete plant, with flexibility to work at Deer Park, Laverton and Campbellfield. You will oversee day-to-day production, scheduling deliveries, and driver management to ensure safety and on-time loads.

The role suits someone with batching, dispatching and operational leadership experience, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can drive a strong safety culture across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Concrete Batcher, Plant Manager or similar role.
• Strong batching and dispatch experience and ability to run a plant.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Good computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
• Ability to coordinate drivers and manage changing workloads.
• Commitment to safety and operational excellence.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Experience operating a front-end loader or forklift is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the Gisborne concrete plant.
• Batch and dispatch concrete using our Command batching system.
• Schedule and allocate drivers to customer deliveries.
• Manage daily customer orders, enquiries and delivery changes via phone and email.
• Monitor raw material stock levels and coordinate replenishment.
• Operate the front-end loader and forklift as required (training provided).
• Complete daily plant checks and oversee housekeeping.
• Conduct toolbox talks and support a safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management requirements.
• Support operations at Deer Park, Laverton and Campbellfield plants during busier periods.

• Monday – Friday + Saturdays + OT
• Batch, dispatch and coordinate daily concrete deliveries

The Role:

Central Premix Concrete is looking for an experienced Plant Manager to take ownership of our Gisborne concrete plant. Flexibility to work at the Deer Park, Laverton and Campbellfield plants will be required. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Batcher, Plant Manager or Concrete Allocator who enjoys autonomy, variety and being at the centre of the operation. As the dedicated Plant Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day running of the site, coordinating concrete production, scheduling deliveries, managing drivers and ensuring every load is delivered safely, efficiently and on time.

What you'll be doing:

Hours: Monday – Friday (rostered shifts are between the hours of 5am – 6pm, with flexibility needed for busy periods) and requirement to participate in Saturdays as required

About you:

We're looking for someone who can confidently work independently and make sound operational decisions. You'll ideally bring:

• Previous experience as a Concrete Batcher, Plant Manager, Allocator or similar role within the concrete or construction materials industry
• Strong batching and dispatch experience with the ability to confidently run a plant
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Good computer skills and confidence learning new systems
• The ability to coordinate drivers, prioritise changing workloads and solve problems under pressure
• A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
• A current driver's licence
• Experience operating a front-end loader and forklift is advantageous but not essential
