Job summary

Monash University seeks a Research Fellow (Computational Microbiome Scientist) to join the Gunjur Laboratory at Box Hill Hospital. The role will analyze shotgun metagenomic data from clinical cohorts and public datasets, and contribute to a growing computational microbiome program.

You will develop reproducible workflows in R/Python, assist with study design and data curation, and support manuscript preparation, grant applications, and supervision of research students.

Qualifications

• Honours degree and/or progress toward/ completion of a doctorate in a relevant field.
• Experience analysing shotgun metagenomic data.
• Strong analytical and manuscript preparation skills; ability to write well-documented code in R/Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and apply bioinformatics approaches to analyse shotgun metagenomic sequencing and other -omics datasets.
• Establish reproducible computational workflows for analyses.
• Contribute to study design, data curation, statistical analyses and data integration.
• Generate publication-quality figures, reports and presentations.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant applications, and supervision/training of research students.
