Job summary

Framestore in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Compositor to integrate live action, CG and 2D/3D elements to cinema-quality visual effects.

You will work with Supervisors, contribute creatively within a production pipeline, and ensure deadlines are met while maintaining attention to detail and color accuracy. Fluency in Nuke or similar node-based software is required.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years previous experience working in a film VFX pipeline.
• Strong understanding of contemporary compositing techniques.
• Demonstrated talent for seamless integration of live action and CG source.
• Strong eye for detail, composition, colour and lighting.
• Work within a production pipeline and meet deadlines.
• Fluent in Nuke and/or other node-based compositing software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Compositing Supervisor and Visual Effects Supervisor to evaluate the creative and technical approach to assigned shots.
• Integrate 2D, 3D and live action elements to high-end visual effects film standard.
• Take briefs and direction from Lead Compositors and VFX Supervisors to execute assigned shots.
• Maintain ongoing communication with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines.
• Take responsibility for own workload, time management and notes/feedback actions required by Supervisors.
• Balance the creative and technical aspects of each shot.
• Work with a good knowledge of colour space principles.
• Ability to consistently produce work of a high standard and accept feedback.
• Flexible and able to work within timelines – estimate time and evaluate scope for jobs.
• Ability to quickly interpret supervisors briefs and devise effective solutions.
