About Us

Globally, energy markets are in transition to a net zero future and the entities within these markets are transforming their underlying business models to ensure that they stay relevant, sustainable and profitable. As one of Australia's largest energy providers, we are proud of our purpose to lead and accelerate the clean energy transformation. Our ability to deliver on this purpose will be dependent on our people. As the energy sector rapidly evolves with electrification, renewables, and sustainability at the forefront, we are delivering innovative centralised energy solutions to meet the needs of modern communities.

About the Role

The Compliance Initiatives Lead is responsible for leading strategic initiatives, projects and improvement activities on behalf of the Governance, Reporting and Regulatory Change Team, acting as a flexible senior resource for ambiguous, cross-functional and time-critical work. The role independently leads projects, problem-solving activities and governance uplift initiatives, and provides surge capacity for emerging priorities, regulatory risks and issues management and other activities across Customer. This is a newly created permanent position, based at Docklands with a hybrid working environment of 2-3 days in the office per week. Please note this is an individual contributor position with no people leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic initiatives, regulatory uplift activities and complex business improvement programs from concept through to implementation and benefit realisation.
  • Identify, assess and resolve complex business, governance and regulatory challenges, developing practical and sustainable solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Support the design and implementation of governance frameworks, operating models, controls, processes and ways of working across Customer Compliance and three lines of defence.
  • Mobilise and lead cross-functional initiatives where ownership is unclear, priorities are emerging or dedicated project resources are not available.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment across business, compliance, legal, operational and senior teams, influencing outcomes and building consensus in complex environments.
  • Provide surge capacity and leadership support for emerging regulatory obligations, business-critical risks, reviews, audits, incidents and organisational change activities.
  • Facilitate workshops, decision-making forums and problem-solving activities, ensuring issues are understood, options are evaluated and actions are delivered.
  • Develop high-quality executive reporting, recommendations, presentations and briefing materials to support leadership, governance forums and strategic decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve governance, delivery practices, business processes and organisational effectiveness, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
About you
  • Significant experience leading strategic initiatives, business improvement programs, regulatory projects or transformation activities within complex and highly regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk, compliance and operational effectiveness, with the ability to balance regulatory requirements with commercial and customer outcomes.
  • Proven ability to lead outcomes in ambiguous environments, bringing structure, clarity and momentum to complex issues and competing priorities.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility and drive action across all levels of the organisation without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, dependencies, risks and competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capability, with the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar subject matter and develop pragmatic solutions.
  • Highly developed analytical, communication and presentation skills, including the ability to distil complex issues into clear recommendations for executive decision-making.
  • Resilient, adaptable and action-oriented, with a track record of delivering outcomes in fast-paced and evolving business environments.
