Job summary

SCHADS Home Care — Disability - Level 2 in Wollongong is seeking experienced Mental Health & Disability Support Workers to assist participants with complex mental health needs across the Wollongong region. You will support individuals with co-occurring conditions, ASD, and AOD, delivering person-centred care and following care plans.

The role requires flexibility for shifts (4-10 hours daily), strong de-escalation skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and compliance with safety

Qualifications

• Experience providing mental health and disability support in community settings.
• Ability to implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and safety protocols.
• NDIS worker requirements including screening checks and related documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred mental health support in line with care plans.
• Supervise and prompt medication administration per protocols.
• Implement BSPs with proactive and reactive strategies.
• Use de-escalation techniques and calm communication during distress.
• Work in environments where substance use may be present, applying harm-minimisation and professional boundaries.
• Maintain accurate case notes, incident reports, and handovers.
