Job summary

Uniting Port Macquarie is seeking a compassionate Care Worker to deliver person-centred care in a warm, home-like aged care environment. You will assist residents with daily living, support independence and participate in social activities, contributing to their safety, dignity and quality of life.

Ideal candidates have a Certificate III in Aged Care/Individual Support and demonstrate empathy, patience and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Must have a Certificate III in Aged Care/Individual Support.
• Previous experience in Aged Care or Community Care is highly desirable.
• Must have a good amount of availability.
• Be adaptable, empathetic, and resourceful, and you will live Uniting’s everyday values of being compassionate, respectful, imaginative, and bold.
• Provide a culturally safe and inclusive work environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing shifts if required.
• A genuine passion for elderly care, empathy, patience, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• You’ll provide care, companionship and emotional support to residents living in our aged care home, to help support their independence and improve their quality of life
• Providing daily living assistance such as showering, personal hygiene, dressing, help at mealtimes and with general mobility
• Assisting with medication and simple wound dressings
• Supporting residents in community-based recreational and social activities
