HSP provides student-centred, culturally responsive support through cultural camps and engagements, tutoring, mentoring and tailored Academic Support Plans (ASPs). Self-determination is the foundation of this approach. Young people identify their goals and determine how individual funding can best support them, building agency, decision‑making skills and ownership of their learning.

About the role:

As a Community Engagement Facilitator, you will support a cohort of students and their families to access and engage with all aspects of the High School Program (HSP). This includes connecting students with tutoring, supporting access to Academic Support Plan (ASP) funding, encouraging participation in cultural camps and engagement days, and providing additional guidance and referral support as needed. Support is primarily delivered remotely through phone, email and text communication.

The role also involves attending up to six camps per year (3 days/2 nights each) and 12 engagement days across Newcastle, the Central Coast, Illawarra and Western Sydney.

Key responsibilities:

Build strong, positive relationships with students and families, providing regular support and check‑ins through phone, email and text.

Support students to access and engage with all aspects of the High School Program, including tutoring, mentoring, Academic Support Plan (ASP) funding, camps and engagement days. (Primarily via remote channels such as email, phone, text)

Work collaboratively with schools, families and community partners to support student participation, wellbeing and educational outcomes.

Support student onboarding processes when required

Support students transition to post school pathways when required

Maintain accurate records, case notes and follow‑up actions in Aurora's CRM and internal systems.

When required, attend schools and community events to strengthen partnerships and promote student engagement.

Support the planning and delivery of camps and engagement days, creating positive, culturally safe and meaningful experiences for students.

Provide hands on supervision and support during camps and outings, creating positive and culturally safe environments for our young mob.

About You

[Please address these points in your job application cover letter]

You identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and can bring lived experience, cultural knowledge, ways of working and community understanding to the role.

You are passionate about empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to achieve their educational goals.

You have experience working with young people, families or communities in a professional, volunteer or community setting.

You build trusting relationships easily and communicate confidently with young people, families, schools and stakeholders.

You are comfortable using technology and administrative systems to maintain accurate records and coordinate support.

You demonstrate initiative, good judgement and a willingness to learn and grow within your role.
