Job summary

Community Housing Limited invites applications for a Community Development Officer on a 2-year fixed term, part-time basis in Prospect, SA. You will collaborate with tenants and stakeholders to build safe, inclusive, connected communities, guided by trauma-informed practice and a strengths-based approach.

The role requires engaging diverse communities, preparing proposals and reports, and maintaining strong partnerships with government, NGOs and the private sector.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Qualification in Community Development, Social Sciences or related discipline
  • Experience engaging community groups to inform and deliver community development activities and approaches that enhance wellbeing
  • Experience working with women who may have experienced complex trauma, housing insecurity, social isolation or financial hardship
  • Experience working with diverse communities including First Nations peoples
  • Strong written and verbal communication, engagement, group work, facilitation and relationship-building skills
  • Strong administration, MS Office and coordination skills and experience
  • Current Driver Licence
  • Satisfactory Police, NDIS and WWVP checks

Responsibilities

  • Engage closely with diverse communities, including those with lived experience, to co-design initiatives with tenants and local communities
  • Manage community development projects from planning to evaluation
  • Prepare proposals, grant applications and reports and promote our Community Development Framework
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with government agencies, community organisations, research bodies and private sector
  • Monitor and report on community outcomes and social impact
  • Support effective communication with CHL colleagues about community development initiatives and outcomes

About the Role?

We are seeking a passionate Community Development Officer to join our team on a 2 year Fixed Term contract, Part Time -?4 days (30 hours) per week. This role supports community development programs and partnerships that enhance tenant wellbeing and strengthen communities across South Australia. Working alongside tenants, community members and stakeholders, you will help create safe, inclusive and connected communities where people feel trusted, heard, respected and empowered.?

About You?

You are a compassionate and skilled community development practitioner with a strong understanding of family and domestic violence and trauma informed practice. You believe in the power of connection,?participation?and belonging. You bring empathy, emotional?intelligence?and strong interpersonal skills through strengths based, culturally responsive, non-judgmental approaches to support people and communities to achieve their goals.?

Key Responsibilities?

  • Manage community development projects from planning to evaluation?
  • Prepare proposals, grant applications and reports and promote our Community Development Framework internally and externally
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with government agencies, community organisations, research bodies and private sector businesses
  • Monitor and report on community outcomes and social impact?
  • Support effective communication with colleagues across CHL about community development initiatives and outcomes
Essential Skills & Experience?
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role?
  • Qualification in Community Development, Social Sciences or related discipline?
  • Experience engaging community groups to inform and deliver community development activities and approaches that enhance individual and collective wellbeing
  • Experience working with women who may have experienced complex trauma, housing insecurity, social isolation or financial hardship??
  • Experience working with diverse communities including First Nations peoples?
  • Strong written and verbal communication, engagement, group work, facilitation and relationship-building skills?
  • Strong administration, MS Office and coordination skills and experience
  • Current Driver Licence
  • Satisfactory Police, NDIS and Working with Children checks?

Please note that a satisfactory police check is required for all staff and those with client related responsibilities are required to provide a NDIS and Working with Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP).
