Job summary

Platinum Electrical & Air in Brisbane is seeking experienced Communications Technicians to support our growing team. The role focuses on hands-on installation and testing of Cat6/Cat6A cabling and optical fibre, with emphasis on safety, quality and client communication.

You will install racks and switches, troubleshoot copper and fibre networks, and read drawings to coordinate site activities while maintaining accurate test records and installation documentation.

Qualifications

• Current Open Cabling Registration with optical fibre and structured cabling endorsements.
• Experience in copper and fibre installation, testing and certification.
• Construction White Card and driver’s licence.
• Able to work independently and communicate clearly with clients and your team.
• Current QLD Electrical Licence, EWP or scissor lift training, and working at heights certification would be highly regarded but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate and certify Cat6 and Cat6A structured cabling.
• Install, splicing, terminating and testing optical fibre.
• Install communications racks, patch panels, network switches and associated equipment.
• Find and rectify faults in copper and fibre networks.
• Read drawings, coordinate site activities and complete test reports and installation records.
• Uphold safety standards and company procedures.
• Support apprentices and contribute to a positive team culture.

Your Role

This is a hands-on communications service and installation role, with systems in place to keep admin simple and manageable.

You’ll be responsible for:
