Job description

Culture. Creativity. Communications that cut through.

AMPR is looking for an experienced Communications Manager to join our Melbourne team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced PR professional to step into a busy, established portfolio of leading lifestyle and consumer brands, work alongside a highly experienced team and make an immediate impact.

If you’re kind, driven and curious, love great ideas, nurture strong media and client relations and know how to keep things moving in a fast-paced agency environment, we’d love to hear from you.

We are AMPR

AMPR is an independent communications agency creating culturally relevant work for some of Australia’s most recognised brands.

For more than three decades, we’ve built our reputation on strong relationships, creative thinking, trusted counsel and work that delivers meaningful and measurable results.

We work across consumer, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, wellness, sport, entertainment and major events, bringing together earned media, influence, talent, content, experiences and brand storytelling.

We’re a team of curious thinkers, great communicators and genuinely good people who care deeply about our work, our clients and each other.

Our values guide how we show up every day:

KIND – We lead with respect, empathy and generosity.

DRIVEN – We care about the outcome and hold ourselves to a high standard.

CURIOUS – We ask questions, challenge convention and look for better ways to do things.

The opportunity

Reporting to a senior lead, you’ll join one of our established client teams and take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and delivery of a portfolio of consumer accounts.

As a six-month contract role, we’re looking for someone who is confident stepping into established relationships, quickly getting across client priorities and bringing experience, energy and sound judgement from day one.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders as well as Communications Executives and Coordinators, balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery.

What you’ll do

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading the day-to-day management of key client accounts and becoming a trusted extension of their teams
  • Developing and delivering strategic communications programs that generate strong earned outcomes
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with media, talent, creators and industry stakeholders
  • Identifying proactive news, storytelling and cultural opportunities for clients
  • Developing creative campaign ideas and contributing to integrated agency thinking
  • Writing and overseeing high-quality media materials, pitches, proposals and client communications
  • Managing projects, timelines, budgets and deliverables with confidence
  • Providing direction, feedback and support to junior team members
  • Working collaboratively across AMPR to deliver the best possible outcome for every client
  • Bringing commercial awareness and identifying opportunities to strengthen and grow client relationships
About you

You’ll ideally bring:

  • 4+ years’ experience in PR and communications, with agency experience highly regarded
  • Strong experience working with consumer and lifestyle brands
  • A proven ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent media relationships and a strong understanding of the Australian media landscape
  • Confident client management and presentation skills
  • Excellent writing, pitching and storytelling ability
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to remain calm, solutions-focused and positive when things move quickly
  • Experience guiding and developing junior team members
  • A genuine interest in culture, brands, media and what’s happening next

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who is kind in how you work, driven by great outcomes and curious enough to keep asking what could make the work better.

Life at AMPR

We want people to do great work while having a life outside of it too.

Our team benefits include:

  • Ongoing learning, development and upskilling
  • Regular team activities and Culture Club events
  • Opportunities to work across a diverse portfolio of leading brands and industries
  • Opportunities across AMPR and our sister company, Twenty3 Group
  • Paid birthday, study and community service leave
  • A supportive, collaborative team that genuinely enjoys working together

We’re PR people, strategists, creatives and storytellers – as well as parents, runners, food obsessives, fashion and beauty lovers, sports fans, pet people and everything in between.

There is no one AMPR personality. What connects us is how we work: Kind. Driven. Curious.
