Job description

What’s the role?

We’re launching The Talent Lab at News Corp Australia, representing a pivot in our business to personality-led promotion and amplification of news content. We believe that audiences bond with people, not just stories, and we are on a mission to turn our journalists into Australia’s most recognisable and trusted news sources.

We’re on the hunt for a visionary Talent & PR Manager to join our tight-knit and nimble team - someone with a social-first creator mindset, arriving with a deep understanding of digital community building and creator culture. You will understand how consistency on camera drives trust better than a polished, static media release.

If you understand creator culture, have a killer media contact book, and know how to coax brilliant storytellers out of their shells, this is the role for you.

The successful candidate will play a key role in building the foundations of News Corp’s Talent Lab, forging new ground in the way our team strategically responds to campaign briefs, helping journalists break the fourth wall and delivering the hands-on coaching, media training, and archetype development required to drive consumer revenue growth.

This enterprise-wide role amplifies the journalists and journalism of major News Australia brands including The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Advertiser and The Courier-Mail, news.com.au, The Australian, Vogue Australia, Glamour Australia, GQ Australia, among others, and sub-brands including SuperCoach and CODE Sports.

About the role?
  • Manage and deliver assigned Talent & PR campaigns end-to-end with confidence and independence

  • Use your social creativity and knowledge of the latest trends to craft strategic recommendations for talent and content amplification in response to briefs aligned with business outcomes

  • Research, identify and make data-driven talent recommendations, both internal journalists and external creators, for campaigns and editorial opportunities and manage contract negotiations where relevant

  • Coordinate talent logistics for campaign activations, including briefing documents, appearances, and asset delivery

  • Support the delivery of the Talent Lab Academy, including workshop coordination and communications to participants

  • Manage and maintain the media monitoring and measurement for reporting

  • Assist with identifying, onboarding and managing external PR agencies

  • Provide direction and support to junior team members, helping them develop

Who are you?

  • Experienced & Digitally Native: You have a strong background in PR, talent management, or media relations, and you consume platforms like TikTok, Reddit, and YouTube like a digital native.

  • Relationship Builder: You excel at building and maintaining networks with journalists, social editors, talent managers, and producers. Existing industry relationships are highly regarded.

  • Creative Communicator: You possess exceptional written communication and in-platform creation skills, allowing you to effortlessly craft and manage pitches, media releases, and campaign briefs.

  • Emotionally Intelligent: You have the EQ and patience to expertly liaise with senior stakeholders, gracefully handle editorial pushback, and coach reluctant journalists to feel comfortable and authentic on camera.

  • Agile Multitasker: You thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment, seamlessly juggling multiple high-priority campaigns while managing expectations both up and down the chain of command.

  • Persuasive & Calm: Whether pitching a national TV segment or presenting a digital social strategy, you are calm under pressure and ready to confidently back your ideas.

  • Collaborative Self-Starter: You proactively lead campaigns and operate independently, but you truly relish a collaborative, team-first environment where “progress over perfection” is prioritized.

  • Growth-Oriented: You are reliable, highly responsive to feedback, and eager to grow. (Experience using media monitoring and intelligence software is an added bonus).
