Job summary

Enerven is seeking an experienced Commissioning Officer to lead high-voltage system commissioning on renewable infrastructure projects across Australia. You will perform pre-energisation testing, FAT/SAT, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance to support efficient project delivery.

You could be based in South Australia or New South Wales with rosters typical to large HV projects and a requirement to travel to site locations across the country.

Qualifications

• A relevant electrical trade qualification with HV testing/commissioning experience.
• Full/unrestricted Electrical Licence OR a tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in electrical commissioning within high-voltage environments.

About the role

Our growth from a local South Australian business to a national player has been rapid, and we’re just getting started. Enerven’s role in the electricity network transition is expanding, delivering innovative electrical infrastructure and telecommunication solutions, while establishing ourselves as a leading HV contractor in the renewables space.

Our Commissioning Department is now a key focus, with investment in resources and capability to strengthen our technical expertise.

As a Commissioning Officer, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring high-voltage systems operate safely and reliably. You’ll perform pre-energisation testing and verification on new and upgraded equipment, preventing costly failures, minimising downtime, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and protecting personnel and assets. Your work will directly contribute to efficient project delivery, build client trust, and safeguard the business’s reputation - making you a critical part of Enerven’s success.

You’ll work on a variety of challenging projects, including renewable energy installations, substations, and transmission networks. This is your chance to work on cutting-edge HV systems, refine your technical expertise, and be part of a team driving innovation in Australia’s energy sector.

Day to day you will:

• Lead the planning and execution of commissioning activities for E&I systems.
• Conduct and manage Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for new and refurbished systems.
• Drive quality, safety, and compliance with Australian and international standards.
• Review designs and provide technical input to project and engineering teams.
• Develop commissioning procedures, test plans, and completion records.
• Coordinate with SCADA, controls, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Support fault finding and issue resolution during commissioning activities.
• Conduct pre-commissioning tests and commission primary and secondary equipment within substations.
• Prepare and maintain FAT and SAT documentation for upcoming installations.
• Produce accurate drawing markups and documentation to capture system changes and support project closeouts at the end of the project lifecycle.

You could be based in South Australia or New South Wales. Your work will take you to project sites across Australia, with a requirement to work away from home. Project rosters can vary based on client expectations, but the most common roster is 11/3. Your flexibility and willingness to be mobile for key project phases and align with project rosters are essential.

About you

We’re looking for experienced Commissioning Officers to join our team and play a key role in delivering some of Australia’s largest HV infrastructure and renewable projects.

Essential requirements include:

• A relevant electrical trade qualification supported by significant HV testing and commissioning experience, together with a full/unrestricted Electrical Licence, OR A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (Degree or Diploma)
• Proven experience in electrical commissioning within high-voltage environments, ideally across electrical and instrumentation systems
• Strong hands-on primary testing and commissioning capability, including circuit breakers, CTs, VTs/CVTs, transformers, 33kV switchboards/switchgear and primary injection testing
• Solid secondary systems experience, including protection functional testing, secondary injection, trip and intertrip checks, point-to-point testing and an understanding of protection schemes
• Experience with secondary protection testing is desirable, particularly using Omicron CMC test equipment, but is not essential.
• Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and other standards applicable to HV electrical commissioning and functional safety
• Experience delivering commissioning activities across both brownfield and greenfield environments
• Familiarity with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) processes
• Strong technical writing skills, with experience developing or contributing to commissioning plans, procedures, ITPs and commissioning records
• Proven ability to manage safety-critical commissioning activities, with strong risk awareness and a proactive approach to safety
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with mechanical, process, SCADA and construction teams
