Qualifications

• Genuine passion for cooking and developing culinary skills.
• Previous kitchen experience, ideally in hotel/busy breakfast environment.
• Commercial cookery qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards.
• Good organisation and attention to detail during busy service.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and team focus.
• Availability for 5:30am starts, including weekends and public holidays.

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis, specialising in breakfast service.

Working alongside our experienced chefs, you will help prepare and deliver a high-quality breakfast experience for our hotel guests. This is an opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a luxury hotel environment and contribute to a kitchen team that values quality, consistency and teamwork.

This role requires 5:30am starts, so you will need to be comfortable with early morning shifts and able to reliably travel to the hotel at this time.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare and cook breakfast dishes to a high standard, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.

• Assist with daily mise en place and ensure all ingredients are ready for service.

• Maintain a clean, organised and well-stocked workstation.

• Follow food safety, hygiene and storage procedures.

• Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth and efficient breakfast service.

• Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring every dish meets our standards.

• Assist with stock rotation, deliveries and stock control as required.

• Contribute to a positive kitchen culture and support your fellow team members.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for cooking and an interest in developing your culinary skills.

• Previous kitchen experience, ideally in a hotel or busy breakfast environment.

• A relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent experience.

• A strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards.

• Good organisation, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.

• A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a strong team focus.

• Availability for 5:30am starts, including weekends and public holidays as rostered.

• Reliable transport or a dependable way to get to the hotel for early morning shifts.
