Job summary

The Star Sydney is accepting applications for a Commis Chef in a fast-paced, fine-dining kitchen. You will support the Sous Chef, assist with cooking and prep tasks, and help maintain hygiene and quality standards across the section.

Qualifications

• Experience in fine dining establishments, especially steak cuisine, is preferred.
• Woodfire cooking is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with diverse food preparation techniques and equipment.
• Strong communication skills and knowledge of liquor laws.
• Ability to work a rotating roster including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

The Commis Chef reports directly to the Sous Chef and offers an energetic and exciting hands-on approach to flawless product execution in an environment focused on safety and culinary excellence.

A few of your responsibilities:

• Support the assigned section as directed by the Sous Chef and provide training to junior staff members.

• Experience within fine dining establishments and steak cuisine. Woodfire cooking highly desirable
• Proficiency with diverse food preparation techniques and cooking equipment.
• Experience in signature dinning settings, with strong communication skills and understanding of relevant liquor laws.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
