Oaks Darwin Elan Hotel, part of Minor Hotels, is seeking a passionate Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. You will assist with preparation and presentation of dishes across all sections, work with the team to ensure quality and consistent service, and uphold HACCP and OH&S standards.

Required: Certificate III in Cookery, knowledge of Modern Australian cuisine, ability to work under pressure, and flexible shifts including weekends; hourly rates apply.

Job Description

Oaks Darwin Elan Hotelare looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-timebasis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, and helping deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of dishes across all sections of the kitchen.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Take initiative to develop culinary skills and grow within a professional kitchen environment.
• Support less experienced team members when required.

Shift Details (subject to change):

• Breakfast and dinner shifts
• Split shifts may be required on some days
• Part-time position with a minimum 20 hours per week

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation):

Monday - Friday: $29.45 per hour

Saturday: $36.81 per hour

Sunday: $44.18 per hour

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Relevant Certificate III in Cookery and previous experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of Modern Australian Cuisine.
• Understanding of HACCP and Workplace Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic team environment.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends.
• Ability to coach and motivate less experienced kitchen team members.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
