Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort, part of Minor Hotels, is seeking a passionate Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a casual basis. You will assist with the preparation and presentation of dishes across all sections and support a high‑quality dining experience for guests.

The role offers hourly rates across weekdays and weekends, with potential shifts and opportunities to grow within a professional kitchen.

Qualifications

• Relevant Certificate III in Cookery and prior experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of Modern Australian Cuisine.
• Understanding of HACCP and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic team environment.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends.
• Ability to coach and motivate less experienced kitchen team members.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a casual basis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, and helping deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of dishes across all sections of the kitchen.


• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.


• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.


• Take initiative to develop culinary skills and grow within a professional kitchen environment.


• Support less experienced team members when required.

Shift Details (subject to change):

Split shifts may be required on some days

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation):

• Monday - Friday: $29.45 per hour


• Saturday: $36.81 per hour


• Sunday: $44.18 per hour

Qualifications

• Relevant Certificate III in Cookery and previous experience in a similar role.


• Knowledge of Modern Australian Cuisine.


• Understanding of HACCP and Workplace Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements.


• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic team environment.
