Job summary

EMPRJA PTY LTD trading as Coral Sea Marina Resort – Airlie Beach QLD is seeking motivated Commi Chef or Demi Chef candidates. You will support a busy kitchen, develop culinary skills, and work under Head and Sous Chefs to deliver exceptional dining experiences on the waterfront.

Applicants should have professional kitchen experience, relevant trade qualifications or be pursuing culinary apprenticeships, and be prepared to work across multiple stations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional commercial kitchen.
• Trade qualifications or be actively working towards completion of a culinary apprenticeship.
• Sound understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
• Flexibility to work hours rostered across seven days and may include weekends, public holidays, evenings and peak trading periods as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes to established quality and presentation standards.
• Support senior chefs with the daily operation of your designated kitchen section.
• Assist with food preparation across multiple kitchen stations as required.
• Ensure consistency, quality and freshness of all food products.
• Maintain stock rotation, storage standards and inventory controls.
• Monitor food quality and report any concerns promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Adhere to food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Assist in training and supporting junior team members where appropriate.

About the role

Reporting to the Head Chef and working closely with the Sous Chef, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality food and exceptional dining experiences for our guests. You will gain exposure across a range of kitchen operations while developing your technical skills in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Appointments will be made as either a Commi Chef or Demi Chef based on an applicant's skills, experience, and qualifications.
